The APG III Classification
The APG III system of flowering plant classification is the third iteration of the Angiosperm Phylogeny Group's current, primarily molecular-based system of plant taxonomy (APG). It was released in 2009 and was replaced in 2016 by a new revision, the APG IV system.

All 45 orders from the previous system, as well as 14 new ones, were recognised by the APG III system. Ceratophyllales was incorrectly labelled as a new order, despite the fact that it had been recognised in both previous APG systems. The newly recognised orders were as follows:
Amborellales, Nymphaeales, Chloranthales, Petrosaviales, Trochodendrales, Buxales, Vitales, Zygophyllales, Picramniales, Huerteales, Berberidopsidales, Escalloniales, Bruniales, and Paracryphiales are some of the families of plants.
Because its inclusion in the previous system was contentious, the identification of alternate "bracketed families" was dropped in APG III. APG III recognised 413 families, which was 43 fewer than the prior system. Forty-four of the 55 "bracketed families" were dropped, and another 20 were dropped as well.
